About Us
Benedikt and Signý run the cabins in Hvammur by the riverbank of Bjarnafjarðará in Strandir. The family bought Hvammur in 2017 but then there was one house on the land. They soon began construction for more houses, which are now five with hot tub. They also have a spacious apartment in Hólmavík with sleeping space for up to 6 people.
Three boreholes have been drilled on the property, two with hot water and one with cold water. It is safe to drink both hot and cold water directly from the tap.
Bjarnarfjörður and surroundings
Bjarnarfjörður is the next fjord north of Steingrímsfjörður and the area is extremely beautiful and well grown. The area is well suited for shorter and longer walks, such as Goðafoss (not the one in the north east), which flows from the river Hallardalsá, but the waterfall is not visible from the road. It is located north from Laugarhóll.
We recommend various outdoor activities, horseback riding, fishing and sightseeing. Everyone must try a beach trip to the driftwood area on Nesströnd. Bjarnarfjörður offers a variety of things, most notably Gvendarlaug and Kotbýli Kuklarans. Drangsnes is a short distance away, where there are sailings to Grímsey a beautiful puffin island, restaurants, the hot tubs by the beach and not to forget the giant troll Kerling. Hólmavík is about 30 min drive and there is a golf course, Museum of sorcery and witchcraft, whale watching and restaurants.
